Eligibility is based on family size and income. Proof of income and a photo id are required. Provides free
primary care for patients without financial means to cover their healthcare Hope accepts new patients every 
week, as capacity allows. A $5 donation for service is requested, but not required. Over 200 doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists donate their time, along with more than 250 adminis-
trative volunteers. Donors and pharmaceutical firms provide free medications for many patients. Patients who 
meet financial qualifications can receive free lab and radiology tests through local hospitals. Many patients

WIC-Women, Infants and Children Program (Carleton and Temperance offices only) 
A health and nutrition program that has a positive effect on pregnancy outcomes, child growth and development.

In December of 2008, S.A.Y. Detroit and the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries opened the nation’s first free 
medical clinic devoted to homeless children and their mothers. The clinic provides examinations, mainten-
ance and preventive healthcare, including immunizations, diabetes screening, and blood pressure testing. 
Open six days a week, it utilizes a staff of physicians and nurse practitioners, many of whom volunteer their 
time, in the areas of: pediatrics, gynecology, internal medicine, podiatry, physical therapy, psychiatric serv-
ices and nutrition. Accepting patients from all over the Detroit area, the clinic currently sees close to 7,000 
patients a year who are in desperate need of healthcare.

Malta Medical Clinic is available two days per month, and it normally stays open for 5.5 hours each day. 
Most of our patients have presented with chronic problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol 
and diabetes. We have seen a number of patients for urgent care problems, and we see new patients every 
month. We try to maintain a family doctor setting. We provide free medications to 95% of the patients seen.

The MCG Medical Outreach Clinic (MOC), is a doctor's office on wheels with two exam rooms, a reception
and charting area, restroom, and counseling area. The MOC serves people with urgent or chronic illnesses
such as hypertension, diabetes, upper respiratory infections, influenza, and a variety of family medicine 
related issues.

Nickless Volunteer Medical Clinic
The Volunteer Clinic has been providing care to the uninsured at no cost since March 2004. We serve those 
who are unable to afford medical care. Patients are seen every Wednesday evening and must sign in between 
4:00 pm-6:30 pm. There are no appointments. Treatment is provided by local licensed physicians, physician 
assistants, nurse practitioner and mental health counselors who volunteer their time, as well as nurses and 
non-clinical staff. Community volunteers assist every Wednesday night in the clinic.

Mercy Place is an outpatient clinic affiliated with St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, which provides comprehensive

The clinic treats persons from 19 through 64 years of age with no medical insurance and no primary care pro-
vider. We provide primarily non-emergency maintenance care of chronic illness, do checkups, dispense generic medications, provide lab testing, provide benefits counseling, enroll patients in the Prescription Assistance Pro-
gram if needed, assist enrollment in the Affordable Care Act Insurance Exchange and Healthy Michigan and make specialist referrals for obstetric, dental care and sexually transmitted disease treatment scope of service during medical clinic sessions. In addition, we also offer in-depth counseling (6 – 12 sessions) for our patients, and on-
going diabetic support workshops outside of the clinic sessions. The pharmacy does not stock any controlled substance drugs, narcotics or any highly addictive drug of any sort.
&
We are open the 1st and 3rd Saturday (9 to noon) and the 2nd and 4th Thursday (6 – 8 pm) of every month for
medical clinic with only a few date changes due to holidays or Ferndale city-wide events. We are open the 2nd 
and 4th Wednesday evening for in-depth counseling. The diabetic support work- shops are held the 1st Saturday 
of each month, noon to 1 pm.
