This type of project can’t happen without the support of a lot of part-
ners. The Milan Bike Guy fixes up bikes that are donated by people
in our community. The Milan Police Department donates bikes through-
out the year, and even the prisons in the area have donated bikes. We
are also seeing an increase in people with an intellectual or develop-
mental disability who cannot drive but who could use a bicycle or an
adult trike to get around town.
Milan is located in both Monroe & Washtenaw Co.

BIKE PROGRAM:
We also operate a bike program to assist our clients in need of transportation. Each year, our community members donate bikes
to us and they are refurbished as needed for safe use by the Roch-
ester Bike Shop. Then, we connect these bikes to clients and their
children who otherwise would have no means of transportation to
get to work, school, the grocery store, and more. Due to the gener-
osity of the New Belgium Brewing Company bike grant, we are also
able to provide bike helmets and locks for those who receive a bike.
Are you interested in donating a bike? Contact: veronica@ranh.org

We’re a passionate group of people who love giving back. It’s our goal
to help every child feel the joy and freedom of riding their first bike and
in the last 4 years we’ve helped over 10,000 kids in the Detroit area get
a bike and a new helmet.
&
There are a lot of kids who need bikes. We’re pedaling as fast as we can
to fix that. We give our bikes away through a network of community org- anizations, churches and schools. These partner organizations help us
put tires on the ground. Unfortunately, we cannot give bikes directly to individual families and we only give bikes to kids under 18 years of age.

Can I buy a bike here?
Adult bicycles are for sale at The Hub of Detroit. Youth between the ages
of ten and eighteen can earn a bicycle through our YEAB program. Child-
ren under ten years old can receive a free bicycle their size at Back Alley Bikes! All free bikes are limited to one per year,
per youth.
Are your programs free?
Well, that depends on the program. All of our youth programming is free
and our adult programs are generally donation-based and inexpensive.
If youth are accepted into our Mechanics in Training program, it’s not
only free – we pay them! That’s right, if you’re between the ages of four-
teen and eighteen, you could be paid to learn how to repair bicycles!
Is my child too young?
Children under ten are too young for most of our programs, but can
receive one free bike per year until they are old enough to attend. They
can also accompany a volunteering parent or guardian (adult must have completed an orientation with us) to our All Ages Volunteer Night, Thurs-
days 5-8pm.
