Senior Community Service Employment Program:
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is 
the nation's oldest program to help low-income, unemployed indi-
viduals aged 55+ find work.

AARP Foundation first matches eligible older job seekers with local nonprofits and public agencies so they can increase skills and build 
self-confidence, while earning a modest income. Based on their em- ployment interests and goals, participants may also receive support-
ive services and skills training through an educational institution. 
Their SCSEP experience most often leads to permanent employment. SCSEP is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. AARP Foun-
dation operates in 21 states and Puerto Rico.

The Foster Grandparent Program is a national program in the U.S, 
that pairs senior citizens with at-risk children. Foster Grandparents volunteer their time to enhance the quality of life of children & youth 
in preschools, homeless shelters & other community programs.
1.  The program provides a way for low-income seniors age 55 
      & over to stay active through volunteer service with children 
      & youth in their communities 
2.   Foster Grandparents provide their life experience, wisdom, 
      love & attention to encourage, tutor & mentor children and 
      troubled teens in a variety of settings such as schools, Head 
      Start & day care centers
3.  They serve between 5 and 40 hours per week. The Foster 
      Grandparent Program is part of Senior Corps, which is ad-
      ministered by the Corporation for National and Community 
      Service.

SCSEP participants gain work experience in a variety of community service activities at non-profit and public facilities, including schools, hospitals, day-care centers & senior centers.

Participants work an average of 20 hours a week and are paid the high-
est of federal, state, or local minimum wage. This training serves as a bridge to unsubsidized employment opportunities for participants.

Urban Seniors Jobs Program:
Our Urban Seniors Job Program is a four-year program that motivates participants to enter or reenter the workforce via class training, financial literacy training, and temporary job experience. This workforce training 
is for low-income individuals 55 years & older living in Wayne, Oakland, 
& Macomb counties. After participants complete their training, they are 
placed with government, nonprofit, faith-based and community skills organizations to further develop their newly-learned skills & prepare 
=them for future employment.

Workforce Career Development Center
Our Workforce Career Development Center helps build a sustainable workforce by providing job seekers with the resources, tools, & train-
ing necessary to be successful. Available resources include employ- ability skills training; career coaching, assessments, and counseling; financial education; case management; and job screening, referrals 
and placement. We also host specialized career and job fairs through-
out the year. Individuals preparing for the job fair receive help in res-
ume writing, employer mock interviews, recommendations, and help 
in searching and applying for employment.

Digital Computer Lab - Another Resource for You!
Our Digital Computer Lab provides state-of-the-art digital access for education & workforce development to those in need. This Lab provi-
des continued learning opportunities for participants as they gain new 
or update their computer skills as well as discover how their newly  acquired skills can access today’s digital workforce. Both young adults & mature participants are encouraged to engage in digital exploration, build skills and spark a career interest in digital technology. Use the Lab to create cover letters, update your resume, complete online employment applications, and take advantage of career assessments pre & employ- ment assessments.
