COUNTIES
ARE LISTED
IN
ALPHABETICAL
ORDER!

NOTE:
In the past, the programs were listed with the date they would open to applications, but we had some people abusing this procedure by calling organizations long before the application period was open.

This would cause a great deal of frustration to the organizations, so this page has now changed! Organizations will now be listed ONLY after they have opened their application procedure so that
this can no longer be abused.

Please pay attention to the QUALIFICATIONS of each program! You should NOT be contacting organizations who clearly say they are ONLY for those in certain areas if you do NOT live in those areas. NO, they are NOT going to change their qualifications just for you....because you are not going to be only one who tries that!

These organizations are run by VOLUNTEERS so please be nice to them!
And please GIVE BACK as you are able in the future!

NATIONWIDE PROGRAMS

The Sheriff’s Office has facilitated the Shop with a Cop program in both Eastern and Western Washtenaw County since 2002. Each year we team law enforcement officers with nearly 200
youth from our county who are in need. For many, if not for Shop with a Cop, they would not
have a holiday celebration. Funding for the event is provided by generous donations from our corporate community. Participating staff donate their time. Each child is furnished with $100-
$150 to spend on gifts. Each enrolled child also receives a winter coat, hat, gloves, blanket,
backpack, toothbrush, and toothpaste. The program further provides participating children
with $100-$125 in gift cards to local Washtenaw County restaurants and a $25 gas card.

Our mission is to create a brighter future for children aged 0-22 within S.E. MI. Each fall,
DRIVE receives referrals of children who will need holiday support from local elementary
schools, special education centers, shelters, churches, and other partner organizations.
These children are all living at or below poverty level within our community, many of
which without basics such as food and proper clothing.
&
Our goal during Christmas Cheer is to not only provide those basics but to also gift these
children with the joy, love, and magic of the holiday season when they need it most! This
includes providing food, clothing, winter gear, boots, personal care items, and (most mag-
ical of all) Christmas Wish List items to each child that is in need.

Manchester Lions Club with Manchester Family Services
Phone: 734-904-4694  Barry
Email: pdg.barryrallen@gmail.com
On Saturday, December      will meet at the Riverside School Cafeteria where at 8:30am our
families will arrive for the Kids Christmas shopping event. Family Services provides a list of
eligible families and kids and we will check them in, giving each child a “shopping pass” that
they will be able to use in selected businesses in Manchester to purchase gifts for their siblings
and parents. Upon arrival they will be assigned a seating area at one of the many tables and pro-
vided breakfast treats and beverages. Adult sponsors will pair up with the individual children and prepare to take them shopping. As the kids shop, their transactions will be recorded by the mer-
chant, then the Lions Club will stop by later and pay according to their shopper number and the
total cost. Then they return to the Riverside cafeteria where they will wrap all the gifts they found
at the various businesses, and at 11am pizzas will arrive, donated by Ollie’s, and Santa makes his appearance. Santa will draw the names of each participating child and they will get to select toys
for themselves. Most of the toys are the result of the Manchester Fire Department’s Toys For Tots program, so please support them.
