Under the plan, a non-profit agency will receive federal money for the program to help county residents 18 to 64 years old and without children who have an income of less than 35% of the federal poverty level--or about $250 to $300 a month.
Residents who qualify for the program (approx. 3,400) will get a letter from the Michigan Department of Community Health that will allow them to get an insurance card. The county is hoping to expand on the program to others.
