We are honored to be there to capture those smiles & forever preserve images of courage, beauty and dignity. Every year, we provide free portrait packages to 5,000 children in 55
cities across the country. Each family is presented with framed enlargements, proofs and
a digital photo gallery of all the images. The portraits help the children see themselves in
a new light. The images are not of sick kids, but of strong and beautiful children filled with
hope.
&
By focusing on the child, we put cancer in the background. Volunteer stylists make every
child feel special before they step in front of the camera with family, friends and often, a
favorite nurse. At the photo shoot, each child receives a Happy Pack filled with items that
provide comfort and dis- traction from the monotony and isolation of a long hospitalization.
The birthday party atmosphere quickly turns a routine day into a celebration of the love that surrounds them.

METRO DETROIT & MULTIPLE COUNTIES

Many hospice care organizations cover multiple counties which is why they are NOT listed
by County on this particular list. Organizations that have funding to provide care for those
with insurance or other financial means, are listed first.

and other insurances cover the cost of Hospice. If a patient does not have insurance, the
Institute will work with the patient and the family to provide care. United Way funding is

of hospice care in Michigan. Currently serving more than 4,000 patients annually in 50
counties, we’re also the largest not-for-profit hospice in our state, and among the largest recognized 501c3 non-profit advanced illness management organizations in the nation.
&
We provide care for all—regardless of age, diagnosis, or ability to pay. Last year, our
commitment extended $4 million beyond what was reimbursed by insurance. Because
we welcome those who are uninsured, or whose treatment is more expensive than what
other hospices can provide, we depend on the financial support of our donors for the
treatments, med medications, services, grief support, and spiritual care of patients and
 families in need.
