If you are unfamiliar with CareerDress, we are an entirely volunteer run non-profit located in Pontiac. CareerDress operates with the mission of promoting the economic independence of low to moderate
income women living in Southeast Michigan. Since opening its doors in 2016, CareerDress has helped 
over 1,400 women improve their chances of obtaining and maintaining employment by providing inter-
view outfits, as well as employment related needs such as scrubs in various colors and non-skid/steel
toe shoes. The CareerDress boutique is stocked with clothing ranging in sizes from 00 to 6X. Upon their 
first visit, participant will receive a new bra and panties, shoes, purse, jewelry, toiletries,
You will need a referral form from an agency you are working with. All participants must be actively 
seeking employment or be currently employed and financially in need of work clothing. The completed
form may be faxed or sent via email. Upon receipt of the referral form, we will contact the participant 
to confirm clothing needs and preferences, sizes and an appointment date/time. Participants should anticipate appointments to last approximately 1 hour. The boutique is open on Tuesday, Wednesday 
and Thursday at 10:00 A.M with the last appointment scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
We are excited to announce we have partnered with the Women's Fund and Community Foundation 
of Greater Rochester to create our "Motoring Women through Unemployment" program which enables 
us to provide our participants with transportation assistance.

The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Clothing Bank provides FREE clothing to families

Who is eligible to receive clothing?
Families and individuals in the community demonstrating financial need are eligible for free 
clothing. Students and families can be referred by any school staff member. Members of the

The Ypsilanti Thrift Shop has been serving our community since 1942. We are a group of dedicated 
volunteers who work together to meet our major goals:
1.   Providing affordable, gently used clothing and household items to our community; most 
      clothing items are priced between $2 and $5 
2.   Donating funds to dozens of local organizations that provide for those in need in our area 
3.   Creating a pleasant, fun shopping atmosphere for our customers
4.   We sell clothing for men, women, and children; jewelry; household items, linens, decorative 
      items, and counter-top appliances; books, CDs and records and tapes; holiday items; toys;  
      sewing and knitting supplies and craft items.

housewares and other items. Our 300-plus members accept, sort, price and sell thousands 
of donated goods in our retail shop each month.

Always Available Caring Closets, located in Title 1 Schools, are stocked with snacks and food,

items from the Caring Closet for students that are in need. We restock the Caring Closets regu-
larly so that students from families that need assistance have the supplies they need to succeed.

Donated from local sources and shared with area families, the clothing room is available to anyone 
free of charge. Whether you’re starting up a new household or simply stretching limited resources, 
you may shop at the FIA Clothing Room every two weeks up to 12 times each year, 3 grocery bags 
of items/visit. An average of 10-15 family groups shop the Clothing Room each day. Call for days 
and hours or check the website!

House by the Side of the Road’s purpose is to provide adequate clothing and small household items 
at no charge to children and adults.These services are free to clients with limited funds for clothing, 
bedding, and other household essentials. People come in after family breakup, job loss, fire, or pro-
longed illness. We also serve those who are homeless, those who are just re-entering society from 
prison, people with mental health issues, recent immigrants, and migrant workers.
